Use even, indirect light
Avoid a single harsh light source. Blister packs, window boxes, and metallic paint throw glare that can hide names, logos, and set numbers.
Bug reports, wrong identifications, billing questions, feature ideas — all welcome.
maximusislamabadg84@gmail.comRecognition accuracy depends a lot on the photo. Four things make the biggest difference.
Avoid a single harsh light source. Blister packs, window boxes, and metallic paint throw glare that can hide names, logos, and set numbers.
Hold the camera square to the toy or package and get the whole thing in frame with a little margin. Angled shots make condition harder to judge.
If a toy is hard to place, scan the side of the box or the back of the card, where the name, series, and set number usually are. On a loose die-cast car, the base often carries the model name and year.
No need to open anything — just tilt the package slightly so reflections off the plastic bubble or window don't cover the toy inside.
Rescan with better light and the whole toy or package in frame — that fixes most misses. If it's still wrong, email us the photo and what the toy actually is. Reports like these are how recognition gets better, and we genuinely want them.
Standard estimates are generated by AI from your photo, and the confidence letter (A to E) shows how sure it is. With Pro, a live price check also searches the web for recent sold and listed prices, which gives a more up-to-date figure. Values vary a lot with condition and packaging — a sealed, boxed toy and a loose copy of the same toy can be worlds apart. If a figure looks far off, send it over and we'll take a look.
It shows the packaging condition the AI sees in your photo — for example sealed, box damaged, or loose — alongside a rarity tier from Common to Legendary. It is not an official grade, and Toydex does not grade toys the way AFA, CAS, or CGA do.
Subscriptions are billed by the app store, so they're managed there: on iOS, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by the app store under its own policy. If something looks wrong on our side, email us and we'll help sort it out.
No. Toydex is account-free, so your collection is saved under an anonymous ID tied to your phone. If you reinstall the app on the same phone, your collection and scanned images are restored from our cloud backup. A new phone gets a new ID and starts with an empty collection. If a reinstall on the same phone doesn't bring your toys back, email us before you start re-scanning.
Toydex has no accounts, but your collection and scanned images are backed up to our cloud so they come back after a reinstall on the same phone. You can remove them in one tap:
Deletion is permanent — a deleted collection cannot be restored. Read the Privacy Policy for full detail on what we store and for how long.
